Next Generation learning & mentoring scheme
The Next Generation learning & mentoring scheme (launching 2019) will offer a range of capacity building support to the community energy sector:
Less experienced community energy groups will be able to access paid mentoring from more experienced community energy practitioners.
Funding and administrative support will be provided to help experienced practitioners network and learn better from each other.
Support will be provided to strengthen or initiate local community energy forums (e.g. at the county scale), where analysis suggests that this support will enable such networks to become self-sustaining in the longer term.
A structured and consultative programme of events will be established, to align with the work of Community Energy England, to ensure a legacy for the whole sector.
Mentors can be drawn from across the whole community energy sector, and a light-touch application process will be established so that payments can be awarded for day rate remuneration, travel and subsistence for mentors, as well as travel and subsistence for those receiving the advice.
Mentoring can also be provided, if requested, by members of the Next Generation consortium: the Centre for Sustainable Energy, Low Carbon Hub, Everoze, Cooperatives UK, Co-operative Futures, Social and Sustainable Capital, and SFW Communications.
